Welcome to the site!

Well, hello there! You have just entered my domain here in the world wide web. My name is Qurat (Koor-ruh-t). This here website is part of a project for my web designing class. However, seeing as I paid a good 55 dollars for this, I am getting that 55 dollars' worth. So, yes, this shall become my little diary, where I can yap and pretend this is a real blog! I hope to just share a little slice of myself here. Perhaps I can dedicate some space for random thoughts or latest interests? WAIT! I JUST realized I could've incorporated "diva" into the actual web domain, and now I feel SICK to my stomach that I didn't. (If anyone reads this and STEALS divadomain from me I will CRY!!!)

Anyway how about some background info? Let's see, I was born on the 17th of January, which makes me a Capricorn. I don't know much about the zodiac signs that well, but hopefully those that do don't leave upon learning this info. Your girl is also a middle child, and I have two sisters! I feel like learning that little bit of info about a person can sometimes give you better insight on them. Come on, we've all met someone once and thought "yeahhhhh you're the youngest child of your family." (lovingly of course hehe) And I'm also an immigrant, I was born in Karachi, Pakistan but I grew up here in the US of A. I can speak Urdu and English, so that is fun. As for what I'm doing right now, and I'm currently attending Texas State University and my major is Digital Media Innovation!

You know, sometimes I wonder what life would be like had I grew up in Pakistan. I never really got a chance to as we left when I was really young. And I was the reason we came to the USA. Because, fun fact, I was born with a congenital heart defect that required surgery. Shout out the UCLA hospital! And shout out LA because that's where I lived! I mostly grew up in an area called Chatsworth. I can still see my childhood home when I close my eyes. It was small, as most places are in California when you're not a multi-millionare and it had no backyard or front yard really. It was just concrete. There was an orange tree right between our house and our neighbor's. It was some of the most nature I really got to see in my area of SoCal. But, only my childhood was spent in California, and my preteen years and until college, would actually be spent in Alabama! I remember being nervous about the move. First off, moving sucks. I moved a lot back in California. But moving to the South, yeah, little city girl me was not prepared for that. I mean the only things I really knew about Alabama was what we learned about during the Civil Rights unit in history class. Though, when I first got there, I had two thoughts. One was in the car while we were driving to our new house. And that was, I had never seen this many trees before in my life! I didn't know the US could look like that. I was captivated. My second thought was when I first stepped out the car. Which was, "oh my god why do I feel like SOUP." This feeling, I would come to learn, was me experiencing humidity for the first time. Let's just say, I came to severely miss California's weather during my stay in Alabama. There was definitely some ups and a lot of downs, but overall, I ended up missing Alabama more than I thought I would. I've met some wonderful people there that I still try to keep up with. But now I am here in Texas! I've been excited trying to get to know the area and the culture more. One thing I did to help with that is join KTSW 89.9, a local Texas alternative radio station. That playlist up on the top is part of a project me and another member are currently working on!
